Simtra at the Jin Mao World BikeTrial Master Cup!

Our team rider Jeff Anderson got invited to the BIU Masters World Bike Trials Master Cup In Shangai China.

Jeff finished 4th on his proto ST-1 frame.

Competition was really stiff! Here is the story from the man himself.

May 1st:

My first day of international competition, the sections were very technical with some big moves and some scary parts.

In the morning Ot Pi managed to beat the world record by climbing the jin mao towers 88 floors in 39 mins !

So the format of the competition was like this. Mod and stock rode together. There were 4 rounds: 6 sections in each round, with the sections getting harder in each round. In the first round the top 20 advance, second the top ten and third the top 4 to the finals.

The first round began and I managed to get a two on section one and got a 1 penalty point for going over the 30 min time limit. So I managed to qualify second behind peter.

May 2nd:

There was three rounds. The first round I started second to last because I qualified second on may 1st.
I was riding behind all the big boys, psychologically intimidating. Through that loop I qualified 7th with 8 points and the top ten got to move on. So next round I started 3rd which I liked more.

For the next round only the top four qualified. I placed third in that round with ten points. So I was in the Finals! So it was Me, Dani Comas, Kazuki, and Peter. lol so the bib numbers were 1 , 2 ,3 and me with bib 16. It was a cool format where we all rode together and rotated through the sections.

Everyone cleaned the first section, the second section was very hard. I went first and fell and twisted my ankle. Peter and kazuki got a one and Dani cleaned it, very impressive. So my ankle was toast but I kept riding. The next section Dani and Kazuki cleaned and Peter got a five, so I have a chance, with Peter with 6 points, to get into 3 place. However I lost concentration and fived it on a balance part. The last three sections were really hard but I managed to clean all of them, however so did Dani, Peter and Kazuki.

So the Final Score was

Dani Comas 0 points
Kazuki 1 point
Peter 6 points
Jeff 10 points

Finally they are here!
So this U shaped part replaces the tensionner in the dropout. This will make the dropout a regular horizontal mount.

The U shapped parts that are meant to replace the tensionners on the Psycho are almost here. I expect delivery in the next few days.

These parts will fill in the U part in the tensionner so the dropout becomes a regular horizontal dropout. So people who have a hard time with the tensionners can use this part instead.

These will be available for purchase for 20$ a pair.

Simtra bikes is going direct!

Simtra bike as been around for just a little over a year and a half now and since we have always been a rider owned company we always wanted since the beginning to be close to our customers.

Our bike and parts line-up as always and continue to reflects our passion and respect for the sport we love. So starting in April, we're skipping the hype and getting back to the core values of riding.

From now on, we'll be almost exclusively internet only, and that means that by dealing direct we keep our overheads low to pass on the savings to you.

We'll continue to sell to shops who stand behind the brand and wants to works with a small company and not only offer what everyother shop as. We will also continue to built frames and parts at a realistic price. This is our commitment, and we stand behind it 100%!

I am Simtra... Basically it's me (Christian). I do design and sales, finance, ordering, marketing, ideas. And then there’s the warehouse lot who put it all in boxes and hopefully send it to you right. The Warehouse lot.. that's also me, I pack the boxes. Then there is me that handles international sales. There is Will who handles the graphic design for the brand and the web site. I work from a small office in my basement in Gatineau Quebec.

We make our stuff mostly in Taiwan. We make in Taiwan because it’s the best quality we can get, in the volume we need, with the right sort of lead time and production schedule. We visit all our factories every year to check out working conditions and work practices for ourselves.

We created Simtra bikes as a branch of the already established Cycles Simtra, the Canadian distribution company that has been in operation since 1999.

As a natural expansion of the company, we are now proud to introduce our own line of frames and P&A's for 2006, under the SIMTRA BIKES brand.

Established in 1998 as the canadian distributor for various street oriented bike companies, we grew up along with the street and trials markets from their earliest days in the canadian scene. This provided us with one of the best knowledge of these sports, and we've always worked hard bringing you products that were actually designed for the riders' needs.

Many companies will brand frames with their «urban» tag just because it's a word that sells well... Some of them even name their bike after one of their sponsored riders, without even letting him design the bike with the spec's he would like for his pro model frame... And only few of them will actually offer REAL innovations or specifications that would DIRECTLY influence the feeling of their «street» bike.

At Simtra, we worked hard, in collaboration with our team riders, which are some of the most reputed in Canada, to develop specific street and trials frames and parts that will fully fullfil your expectations.

Our only goal is to design products that are in tune with the riders needs. We are not aiming at the ultimate burly bike, we are not claiming that our bikes will resist hucking off a 30 ft cliff... Most of these bikes don't offer much of a good ride quality anyways... There's one thing we can definitly guaranty and be proud of : we will offer the best weight to strength ratio, at prices you can afford.
